The newly appointed board, which includes 17 members, will be led by Ali Muhammad Umar (Nayara) as Chairman. The Maliya Boys are eager to secure promotion to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) for the 2025/26 season. According to a statement issued by the club's Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, Barau FC arrived in Asaba on Wednesday with a strong squad of 32 players, accompanied by over 15 officials and the coaching staff. The team is determined to work hard and deliver their best performance in the competition to secure a coveted spot in the NPFL. The taking-over ceremony took place on Monday 30th June 2025 at the WAFU headquarters in Cocody Rivera 4 area of Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire. During the ceremony, Gusau met with staff of the organization, outlining his vision for the future of football in the region. As the new President of WAFU Zone B, Gusau is expected to provide leadership and direction to the organization, working to promote football development and cooperation among member countries.
