In a strongly-worded circular signed by its Chief Operating Officer, Dr. Olushola Ogunnowo, and addressed to all NLO clubs through their respective State Football Associations, the league's secretariat declared participation in unauthorized private leagues as "unauthorized, irregular, and a direct violation of the statutes and regulations governing football in Nigeria."
