Scottish Premiership side Motherwell Football Club has confirmed the signing of Nigerian winger Ibrahim Said from Viborg FF on a two-year deal, subject to international clearance. The 23-year-old, who is a product of the Dabo Babes Academy in Nigeria, joins Motherwell from Viborg FF for an undisclosed fee, with the club holding the option of a further year.
Said's impressive performances at the 2019 FIFA U-17 World Cup caught the attention of top European clubs, including Liverpool and Manchester City, before he signed a four-year deal with Viborg FF in 2021. During his time with Viborg FF, Said scored 11 goals and registered 11 assists in 112 appearances, helping his side earn promotion back to the Danish top-flight in 2022.
Motherwell boss Jens Berthel Askou, who knows Said well from his time in Denmark, expressed his excitement about the signing, highlighting Said's versatility, speed, dribbling ability, and finishing qualities. "Ibrahim is a versatile winger who excels both in wide 1v1 situations and in tighter spaces within the opposition's structure," Askou said.
Said, who has represented Nigeria at Under-17 level, is eager to make an impact at Motherwell. "I am happy to be in the door," he said. "This move has been long in the making, and I'm excited about what the manager is trying to build here. There are good players in the squad, and I hope I can excite everyone who comes to watch us play."
