Sports Fight Kicks Off At ADUSTECH: 12th Edition of Inter-Faculty Competition Begins

The 12th Edition of the Inter-Faculty Sports Competition at Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil (ADUSTECH) has been declared opened. The event, which is more than just a contest for medals, aims to promote holistic development, teamwork, physical fitness, and resilience among students. The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Musa Tukur Yakasai, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor Academic, Prof. Ado Muntari Bichi, officially opened the competition at the school football pitch on Wednesday, July 23, 2025.

Vice Chancellori emphasized the importance of the competition in showcasing students' talents beyond the classroom. He highlighted the university's commitment to identifying and nurturing sporting potentials among students, fostering their overall development. "The purpose of organizing the competition is to show to the world that as a university of science and technology, we are not relenting on the field of sporting activities," he said.

The Vice Chancellor also recalled a success story of a former student who was scouted from this competition and is now playing football as a career in Europe. He noted that the Inter-Faculties games serve as an avenue to showcase the upgraded and new school facilities provided for the upcoming NUGA Preliminary Zone E games, which ADUSTECH will be hosting. 

Among the attendees are Alhaji Aminu Tukur Halliru (Bursar), Prof. Abdulkadir Muhammad Dambazau (Dean of Students Affairs), Prof. Sani Muhd Gaya (Dean of the Faculty of Engineering), Prof. Aminu Ahmed (Director of Quality Assurance), Dr. Ashiru Sani (Head of the Civil Engineering Department), Prof. Muhd Alhaji (from the Geography Department), Dr. Adamu Hussain Ajingi (from the Geography Department), and Malam Garzali Iliyasu (representing the University Librarian).

The opening match saw the Faculty of Engineering defeat the Faculty of Computing and Mathematical Science 2-0. The competition comprises six faculties, including Agric & Agric Technology, Science, Engineering, Maths and Computing Science, Science and Technology Education, and Earth and Environmental Science, competing in nine different sporting activities. 

The nine sporting activities include football, basketball, volleyball, beach volleyball, badminton, tennis, table tennis, scramble, chess, and athletics. The event is a testament to ADUSTECH's priority on sports and its commitment to fostering the overall development of its students.

The Vice Chancellor expressed his gratitude to the University Sports Directorate under the leadership of Director Abubakar Abdussalam and LOC under Deputy Director Admin Nura Muhammad for their committed efforts in organizing the tournament. The 12th Edition of the Inter-Faculty Sports Competition is expected to be an exciting and memorable event.

By Muzammil Dalha Yola The 12th edition of the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil (ADUSTECH) Inter-Faculties Sports Competition came to a close on Thursday, August 7, 2025, with a thrilling football final between the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Science and Technology Education (FASTE) at the University's football pitch. The match was highly contested, with FASTE emerging victorious, winning 1-0 against the Faculty of Engineering. The Faculty of Science secured the 3rd position in football, showcasing their skills and determination throughout the tournament.
