NLO Issues Urgent Notice To Media On Responsible Football Reporting

The Nationwide League One (NLO) Secretariat has issued an official statement urging media practitioners to exercise utmost responsibility and restraint in their reporting on football-related matters. In a statement signed by Chief Operating Officer Olushola Ogunnowo, the NLO expressed concern over recent reports and stories circulating on various platforms that may contain information detrimental to the development of football in Nigeria.

The NLO emphasized that football is a vital part of Nigeria's national identity and a significant driver of youth development, community engagement, and national pride. As such, misinformation, unfounded stories, or narratives that undermine the integrity and efforts of players, officials, and stakeholders can have negative effects on the sport's growth and morale.

To promote responsible reporting, the NLO respectfully requested that media practitioners:

- Verify information thoroughly before publishing

- Focus on promoting positive developments in Nigerian football

- Avoid spreading rumors or stories that could tarnish the reputation of clubs, players, or officials

- Collaborate with credible sources for accurate and balanced reporting

By working together, the NLO and media practitioners can foster a thriving football environment that inspires future generations and uplifts Nigeria's sporting ambitions. Gusau/Ahalan 2024 Preseason Cup Kick-Off Date Rescheduled

The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th.
