Eight matches were played over the weekend across the country. Rivers United's unbeaten run ended in Benin, Shooting Stars earned their first away point, while North Central teams Nasarawa United and Niger Tornadoes continued their impressive performances as they defeated Abia State teams Enyimba (at home) and Abia Warriors (away) 1-0 respectively.
The Southwest Derby between Ikorodu City and Shooting Stars in Lagos delivered as expected, with Shooting Stars claiming their first away point of the season.
Another thing that caught my attention was that while a lot of EuroMatch NPFL teams are amplifying their travels by air, Shooting Stars showcased how they used rail to travel to Lagos by train.
Nasarawa United's impressive performance in the league continues - four wins and one draw in their last five games, six goals scored and zero conceded. It was a top-class performance from three of the four National U23 team invitees - goalkeeper Chinemerem, Joefrank, and Alfred - as they edged Enyimba FC at the weekend.
Enyimba FC's poor start to the season is not unusual because the team did not have a good pre-season, despite the many signings made this season. The team is just trying to find its shape now, but with the promise they are showing, they will definitely improve.
It was the first matchday that we saw only one game on TV, unlike Matchdays 1-9 when at least two or more games were shown on TV on each matchday.
