Four Teams to Play Semi-final of Sam Okwaraji U-16 Soccer Tourney in Yobe

Government Secondary School, Damaturu will confront GSS, Goneri counterpart in the first semi-final of the maiden edition of Sam Okwaraji Under-16 soccer tournament in Yobe state.

The two semi finalists and the final matches would be played between today Sunday and tomorrow Monday at the Game Village, Damaturu where the state commissioner of ministry of education, Professor Abba Idris is expected to be the special guest of honour.

The tournament, organized by the Sam Okwaraji Foundation and Nigerian Schools Sports Federation NSSF in conjunction with the Nigerian Football Federation NFF and sponsoring by First Bank Plc aimed at developing and identify hidden hidden talents at grassroots level across the country.

The Sports Coordinator in Yobe state ministry of education, Hassan Dauda described the performance of the participating teams as superb, charging them to keep it up.

Hassan Dauda however, commended the state governor, Mai Mala Buni and the state commissioner of education, Professor Abba Idris for their commitment and moral support towards the development of Various sporting activities in the state and the country at large.

He called on the people of the state to come out enmass to support the semi finalists teams as part of their contributions to encourage them younger generation players.

The winner will represent the state in the north east regional qualifiers while the final stage of the championship will hold in Lagos later in the year.

NUGA Council Fixes Date for Zone E Preliminaries

This decision was made during the Council's meeting at ADUSTECH Wudil, attended by representatives from various universities in the zone.
