The Sabon Gari Football Management has released its 2026 football calendar, outlining the schedule for various football competitions in the Sabon Gari domain and its environs. The chairman, Sir Michael Anike, stated that releasing the calendar is a cardinal function of the management, aimed at avoiding clashes of time by football organisers.
According to Sir Michael, the calendar indicates the time and period when an organiser will commence its competition and when to stop. The 2026 calendar features several competitions, including the Ahlan Sabon Gari Youth Football League, Anglican Youth Football Championship, Peace Cup Football Competition, DCC Super 8, Imo Cup, Anaocha Unity Cup, and Uche Agbo Challenge Cup.
The Ahlan Sabon Gari Youth Football League will be played every Fridays and Saturdays, while the Anglican Youth Football Championship will run from 15th February to 29th March, 2026. The Peace Cup Football Competition will take place from 5th April, 2026, to 17th May, 2026.
Other competitions include the DCC Super 8, scheduled from 24th May, 2026, to 12th July, 2026, and the Imo Cup, which will run from 19th July, 2026, to 16th August, 2026. The Anaocha Unity Cup will take place from 23rd August, 2026, to 20th September, 2026, while the Uche Agbo Challenge Cup will run from 27th September, 2026, to 15th November, 2026.
The Sabon Gari Football Management has warned organisers not to encroach on another organiser's time, citing past instances where this has happened. The chairman, Sir Michael Anike, stated that any defaulter will be fined and sanctioned by the Kano State Football Association, of which Sabon Gari Football Management is an affiliate body.
Sir Michael urged all football organisers to abide by the calendar and rules and regulations guiding Sabon Gari football management. He emphasized that the management's motto is "FOOTBALL DEVELOPMENT", and that the Ahlan Youth Football League is designed to discover and nurture young talented footballers.
The Ahlan Youth Football League is open to players aged 18-23 years and will kick off on Friday, 3rd April 2026, at Government Commercial Secondary School, Abeokuta Road, by Ibo Road. Football stakeholders and fans are invited to witness the opening ceremony between Denmark Academy team and Delight Academy team.
The league will be handled by a seasoned technical team, including Nicholas Ozoeme, Akinjide Murtala, Ayo Sunday, and Afam OkeChukwu. The Sabon Gari Football Management is committed to promoting football development in the region and looks forward to a successful 2026 football season.
