Kano Sports Stakeholders Unite: Pillars and Barau FC Fans Urged To Foster Mutual Understanding For NPFL Success
In a significant step towards promoting sports development in Kano State, a stakeholders' meeting was held on thursday 21st August 2025 at the Kano State Sports Commission, organized by SWAN Kano State, bringing together representatives from the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Kano State chapter, State Sports Commission, Kano State Football Association, Kano Pillars Football Club, and Barau FC.
The meeting aimed to discuss critical issues affecting sports development in the state and to create a harmonious and mutual coexistence between Kano Pillars and Barau Football Teams, the two sides that will represent Kano State in the upcoming Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) 2025/2026 season.
Key Resolutions:
- Fanbase and Awareness: Both Pillars and Barau FC Supporters Clubs were urged to promote mutual understanding and respect to ensure a smooth and enjoyable experience for all.
- Development: Stakeholders were called upon to collaborate to promote football inclusiveness and community development in line with FIFA/CAF/NFF/FA rules and regulations.
- Funding and Sponsorship: The need for increased funding and sponsorship to support football development in the state and beyond was emphasized.
- Collaboration: The meeting hailed the commitment of the club managements and fans' leadership to uphold the principles of fairness and work together to promote cleanliness and prove cynics wrong.
- Call for Action: The stakeholders recognized the need to work collectively to ensure a healthy and wholesome rivalry between the two teams.

The meeting concluded with a pledge to reconvene in the future to review progress and address emerging issues. The stakeholders expressed gratitude to SWAN Kano State chapter for facilitating the event and to all participants for their active engagement and contributions.
The communique drafting committee comprised Abubakar Shehu Kwaru, Secretary, NUJ Kano Chairman; Aminu Halilu Tudun Wada, Freedom Radio Secretary; Isyaku Ibrahim, ARTV; Zahraddeen Saleh, Chairman, SWAN Kano; and Muzammil Dalha Yola, Assistant Secretary, SWAN Kano as members.
This development marks a significant step towards promoting sports development in Kano State and ensuring a successful NPFL season for both Kano Pillars and Barau FC.
