Nigeria-born center forward Umar Abubakar, a former product of Footwork Football Academy Abuja, has been invited to the 20-man Flying Eagles camp in preparation for the Afcon U-20 tournament in Egypt. This recognition comes on the back of his impressive performances for Jong KAA Gent in the Belgian First Amateur Division.

Abubakar's eye for goals, good positioning, and scoring ability have made him a standout player in the league. His superb performance has caught the attention of Technical Adviser Aliyu Zubairu, who sees him as a valuable asset to the Flying Eagles.

The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th.
