ADUSTECH Gears Up for Zone E NUGA Preliminary Games with New Facilities and Upgrades

The Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology (ADUSTECH) Wudil is poised to host the highly anticipated Zone E NUGA Preliminary Games, as preparations gain momentum with significant upgrades to its sports facilities. The Local Organizing Committee (LOC), led by Chairman Professor Abdulkadir Muhammad Dambazau, along with Director of Sports Abdussalam Abubakar, Deputy Director of Sports Administration Nura Muhammad, and Deputy Director of Sports Technical Sunusi Mamuda, provided insights into the institution's readiness during their recent media engagement.

Professor Abdulkadir Dambazau emphasized the university's commitment to hosting the prestigious event by stating, “As an institution, we are saddled with the responsibility to organize the Zone E NUGA Preliminary Games. It has become necessary for us to upgrade, renovate existing facilities, and provide new ones that meet the competition’s requirements.” 

The university has undertaken extensive renovations and constructions, ensuring all sports facilities meet the required standards. Highlights of the upgrades include enhanced courts for lawn tennis, basketball, and volleyball, as well as improved indoor facilities such as the gymnasium and badminton courts. Furthermore, two football pitches have undergone significant enhancement, positioning them for competitive play.

In addition to the physical infrastructure, the university has also prioritized the availability of sporting kits for the competition, ensuring that athletes are well-equipped. “We have ensured that our players receive all the necessary materials to prepare them for the upcoming competition,” said Professor Abdulkadir.

Addressing concerns about potential delays, the LOC Chairman expressed confidence in their preparedness.“We were almost ready for the initial scheduled dates of February 18th to 23rd, and despite the postponement of the national event, we are optimistic that all conditions will be properly aligned within a month before the preliminary games. However, challenges do exist, particularly with athletics, boxing, and squash facilities; we aim to utilize the Sani Abacha Stadium Kano and Ado Bayero Square for these events,” he stated.

Professor Abdulkadir expressed gratitude to the participating institutions and acknowledged the Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology Wudil community, especially the Principal Officers and Vice Chancellor Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, for their unwavering support.

He further encouraged university students to embrace hospitality towards visiting teams while upholding the values of the sportsmanship throughout the competition.

Participating Universities in Zone E NUGA preliminary games include Bayero University, Kano, Skyline University, Kano. Northwest University, Kano.
