By Muzammil Dalha Yola

Naziru Auwalu, popularly known as Laja, made a stunning debut for Kano Pillars FC in their matchday 16 victory over Katsina United at the Sani Abacha Stadium. The young midfield maestro was instrumental in dictating the pace of the game, showcasing his exceptional skills, vision, and passing range.

Laja's impressive performance did not go unnoticed, as he dominated the midfield, leaving the Katsina United players struggling to cope with his smart moves and agility. His display was a testament to his quality and potential, and he certainly did not disappoint the Kano Pillars FC fans and coaches who had high expectations from him.

Through a combination of passes involving Mustapha Umar and Naziru Laja, the latter's square pass provided the assist for Abba Musa to nod the ball into the Katsina United net in the 34th minute of the game.

The 1-0 victory was a significant boost for Kano Pillars FC, who were without some of their key players, including Rabiu Ali and Aminu Sani (Bajahilci), who are currently with the CHAN Super Eagles. Shehu Abdullahi and Super Eagles Captain Ahmed Musa OON also missed the game due to discomfort.

Kano Pillars FC Technical Adviser, Usman Abdallah, was full of praise for Laja's performance, stating that the young player's display was a clear indication of the bright future ahead for the club. Abdallah noted that most of the players who featured in the game were from the junior team, and their performance was a testament to the club's commitment to youth development.

The Nigerian U23 attacking midfield, who joined Kano Pillars FC this season after winning the NPFL league with Enugu Rangers in the 2023/24 season and with Rivers United in the 2022/23 season, expressed his gratitude to the fans and coaches for their support and confidence in him. He promised to continue working hard and doing his best to help the club finish in a better position at the end of the season.

With Laja's impressive debut, Kano Pillars FC fans will be eagerly anticipating his future performances, and the young midfielder is certainly one to watch in the NPFL.
