KHAIRUN Launches State-of-the-Art Sports Facilities

Khalifa Isyaku Rabiu University (KHAIRUN) Kano has taken a significant leap in promoting sports and education, launching newly constructed basketball, tennis, volleyball courts, and a 5-a-side football pitch. The event, held at the university campus on tuesday 24th December, 2024 was attended by dignitaries, including the Vice Chancellor, Professor Abdulrashid Garba.

Professor Garba emphasized the importance of sports in the global economy, stating that it has become a lucrative business that can complement education. He noted that sports has taken a strategic place in socio-economic development worldwide. The university authority has shown keen interest in sports, motivating students to develop their skills through top-class facilities.

The Vice Chancellor urged students to utilize the facilities to achieve their objectives and propel themselves for national and international engagements. He commended the proprietor for their commitment to education and sports development.

Guest speaker Professor Musa Garba Yakasai highlighted sports as a unifying factor for various ethnic groups in Nigeria, adding that it projects a positive image of nations investing in the sector. Former Vice Chancellor of Northwest University, Professor Mustapha Isa, and KHAIRUN's Registrar, Yusuf Datti, emphasized the significance of combining education and sports, citing its potential as a multi-billion-dollar business.

The director of sports, Aishatu Dauda, pledged to promote and develop sports in the state. Students expressed gratitude for the facilities, which will enhance their sporting careers. The event featured a novelty match between selected students and the launching of the courts by Professor B.A. Haruna of Bayero University, Professor Musa Garba Yakasai, Vice Chancellor KHAIRUN Professor Abdulrashid Garba and other dignitaries.
