Flying Eagles Soar to Victory: Senator Kawu Sumaila Commends Team's Resilience

The Flying Eagles of Nigeria, has made the nation proud once again by successfully defending their U-20 WAFU B tournament title in Togo. The team's 2-1 victory over Ghana in the final on Wednesday marked a thrilling conclusion to their campaign.

Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, Chairman of the Senate Committee on Sports, was quick to praise the team's achievement, stating, "This is a very good win for Nigeria at this point, and I want to specially commend the boys and technical crews for doing the country proud". The Senator highlighted the team's remarkable resilience throughout the tournament.

Senator Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila praised the Flying Eagles' remarkable resilience after their thrilling 2-1 victory over Ghana in the WAFU B U20 Championship final. "The team's determination to bounce back from their initial loss to Burkina Faso is truly inspiring," he noted. "Their ability to overcome adversity and emerge as champions is a testament to the strength of Nigerian sports".

This triumph couldn't have come at a better time, as Nigeria's sports scene is experiencing a rebirth with the establishment of the National Sports Commission. The Flying Eagles have secured a spot in the 2025 AFCON U20 Championship in South Africa, alongside Ghana, and will represent the WAFU B zone.
