In a move aimed at supporting African football clubs, the Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed a financial assistance package of $50,000 (approximately N75 million) for each club participating in the preliminary round of the Champions League and Confederation Cup.
This welcome development is expected to boost the morale and financial stability of the participating clubs, including Nigerian representatives Rangers, Remo Stars, El Kanemi Warriors, and Enyimba, who will each receive the $50,000 grant.
The financial assistance is a testament to CAF's commitment to developing African football and supporting clubs in their quest for continental glory. The funds are expected to aid the clubs in covering expenses related to player development, training, and competition preparations.
Nigerian football fans have hailed the move as a positive step towards enhancing the competitiveness of Nigerian clubs on the continental stage. With this financial boost, the participating clubs are expected to put up a strong showing in the preliminary rounds of the Champions League and Confederation Cup.
