The kick off date of the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON tournament tagged Gusau/Ahalan 2024 pre-season, has been shifted by oneweek. The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th.
According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement.
The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th. The draws will be held on the same day, with the opening match scheduled for August 20th at 4 pm.
Plateau State Governor, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, will be the special guest of honor, while the Plateau State Football Association Chairman, Honorable Suleiman Yahaya Kwande, will be the chief host.
Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru commended the Plateau State government for hosting the tournament and expressed confidence in its success. He apologized for any inconvenience caused by the postponement and assured that the tournament would serve as a valuable testing ground for participating teams ahead of the 2024/2025 football season.
