NPFL 24-25 Season Kicks Off with Exciting Matchups on August 31st/September 7th & 8th

The Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) is set to commence its 2024-2025 season on August 31st and with nine thrilling matches scheduled for the September 7th and 8th.

Here are the matchups for Match Day 1:

- Rangers v El Kanemi Warriors

- Abia Warriors v Remo Stars

- Beyond Limits v Enyimba

- Lobi Stars vs Akwa Utd

- Kwara Utd v Niger Tornadoes

- Bendel Insurance v Rivers Utd

- Kano Pillars v Ikorodu City

- Sunshine Stars v Bayelsa Utd

- Nasarawa Utd v Shooting Stars

- Plateau Utd v Katsina United

Fans are eagerly anticipating the start of the new season, with several teams having strengthened their squads during the transfer window. The opening day fixtures promise to deliver exciting encounters, with some of the top teams in the league facing off against each other.

All eyes will be on the league opening MD 1 of the NPFL24/25 on 31st August 2024, where league champions Rangers will face a tough test against President Federation Cup winners and newly promoted El Kanemi Warriors at the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Abia Warriors will host Remo Stars at the Umuahia Township Stadium, while Beyond Limits will look to upset Enyimba at the Ikenne Stadium. and Lobi Stars will battle Akwa Utd at the Aper Aku Stadium.

In other matches, Kwara Utd will take on Niger Tornadoes at the Kwara State Stadium, Bendel Insurance will face Rivers Utd at the Samuel Ogbemudia Stadium, and Kano Pillars will host Ikorodu City at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Sunshine Stars will welcome Bayelsa Utd to the Akure Township Stadium, Nasarawa Utd will clash with Shooting Stars at the Lafia Township Stadium, and Plateau Utd will face Katsina United at the New Jos Stadium.

The league organizers have announced a record-breaking new prize money for the winners of the 2024/25 NPFL campaign. The league winners will now receive ₦200 million, a ₦50 million increase from the previous year. The NPFL 24-25 season promises to be an exciting and competitive one, with several teams vying for the title.

Gusau/Ahalan 2024 Preseason Cup Kick-Off Date Rescheduled

By Muzammil Dalha Yola  The kick off date of the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON tournament tagged Gusau/Ahalan 2024 pre-season, has been shifted by oneweek. The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th. The draws will be held on the same day, with the opening match scheduled for August 20th at 4 pm.
