Governor Yusuf Kickstarts 2nd Military and Para-Military Games in Kano

Kano State Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has declared open the 2nd edition of the Military and Para-Military Games organized by the Kano State Sports Commission at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, on Sunday 21st July 2024.

Represented by the Chief of Staff, Government House, Alhaji Shehu Wada Sagagi, the Governor stated that the Kano State Government is committed to developing sports activities in the state due to their contribution to the economy, health, and wellbeing of young people.

The competition aims to promote mutual understanding between security agencies, fostering peace and unity among them. The Nigerian Air Force football team showcased their spirit, rebounding in the second half to equalize and eventually defeating KAROTA 2-1.

The games will feature over 675 athletes, both male and female, from military and paramilitary organizations, participating in various sports such as athletics, badminton, basketball, football, golf, judo, karate, table tennis, tennis, and volleyball at different venues.

Dignitaries in attendance included Commissioner of Youth and Sports Development, Hon. Mustapha Rabiu Kwankwaso; Commissioner of Solid Minerals, Alh. Safiyanu Hamza Kachakko; Sports Committee Chairman, Kano State Assembly, Alh. Kabiru Usman; Kano Municipal Member, Alhaji Sarki Aliyu Daneji; Kano State FA Chairman, Alhaji Sharif Rabiu Inuwa Ahlan; Commander Nigerian Air Force Kano, Group Captain Mustapha Suleman; and DG Corporate Security, rtd Commissioner of Police, Alhaji Kabiru Gwarzo, among others.
