This dichotomy highlights the importance of appointing technocrats and professionals to manage football clubs, rather than political friends.

Clubs like Rangers International FC and Enyimba FC, Rivers Utd and Remo Stars led by experienced football professionals, have:

- Improved team performance

- Enhanced player development

- Increased fan engagement

- Attracted sponsors

- Implemented transparent management

In contrast, government-run clubs, plagued by political interference and mismanagement, face:

- Poor team performance

- Neglected player development

- Low fan turnout

- Financial mismanagement

- Lack of transparency

Experts urge state governments to appoint technocrats and professionals with vast knowledge to manage clubs, ensuring a brighter future for Nigerian football. While government clubs have an advantage in building a system, league board regulation is crucial to ensure fairness and competitiveness.

By doing things right, everyone benefits. Expert-led clubs prove that professionalism and expertise are the keys to success, leaving political appointments and government meddling behind. The future of Nigerian football depends on embracing this revolution and entrusting clubs to those who truly understand the beautiful game.

Gusau/Ahalan 2024 Preseason Cup Kick-Off Date Rescheduled

By Muzammil Dalha Yola  The kick off date of the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON tournament tagged Gusau/Ahalan 2024 pre-season, has been shifted by oneweek. The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th. The draws will be held on the same day, with the opening match scheduled for August 20th at 4 pm.
