Commemoration Event for Governor Abba Kabir's One Year in Office Hosted by Sa'adatu Rimi University of Education Ends on a High Note

In a grand celebration to mark Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf's successful one-year anniversary in office, Sa'adatu Rimi University of Education (SRUOE) organized a series of events, culminating in the anticipated Inter-Faculty Games. The event, held at the university's sports complex, saw the Faculty of Education clinching victory in the football finals against the Faculty of Special Education with an impressive score of 4-1 on thursday 30th May 2024.

The Vice Chancellor of SRUOE, Professor Yahaya Isa Bunkure, commended Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf for his remarkable achievements in the education sector, highlighting the significant allocation of resources to education, a historic feat for Kano State. Professor Yahaya expressed his delight at the successful tournament and pledged to organize more sporting events within the university to foster talent development among students.

He further acknowledged the support of the Kano State government in providing resources to enhance the university experience, promising to upgrade and improve sports facilities on the university campus. Additionally, Professor Yahaya hinted at an upcoming celebration to mark the university's one-year anniversary since the commencement of degree programs following its upgrade last year. He also confirmed the participation of the University of Education in the forthcoming NUGA games.

The Inter-Faculty Games not only showcased the sporting prowess of the students but also served as a platform for fostering camaraderie and healthy competition among the various academic faculties. The vibrant atmosphere and fervent enthusiasm displayed by participants and spectators alike reflected the university's commitment to holistic student development.

As the Faculty of Education emerged victoriously as the overall winners of the event, the spirit of sportsmanship and unity prevailed throughout the competition, highlighting the importance of academic and extracurricular activities in shaping well-rounded individuals within the educational institution.

Gusau/Ahalan 2024 Preseason Cup Kick-Off Date Rescheduled

By Muzammil Dalha Yola  The kick off date of the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON tournament tagged Gusau/Ahalan 2024 pre-season, has been shifted by oneweek. The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th. The draws will be held on the same day, with the opening match scheduled for August 20th at 4 pm.
