Aliko Dangote University of Science and Technology, Wudil, (ADUSTECH) made history on Wednesday, 14th January 2026, as it honoured its athletes who brought pride to the institution at the NUGa Games and JUST Games. The colourful ceremony, held at the university, was attended by esteemed guests, including the University Pro-Chancellor, Retired Justice Abdu Aboki, Vice-Chancellor Professor Musa Tukur Yakasai, and other principal officers.
This remarkable achievement marks a milestone in the university's 25-year history, as it won medals for the first time in University Games. The gold and silver medalists in Judo, Aminu Hassan and Khalid Khalil, received impressive cash rewards of ₦200,000 and ₦150,000, respectively. Ya'u Muhammad a gold medalist in draughts game at University Staff games received ₦50,000. Other medalists and coaches also took home prizes, with the Chairman Sports Committee, Director of Sports and his deputies receiving ₦100,000 each.
The Pro-Chancellor praised the university's success in sports, while the Vice-Chancellor thanked the principal officers and Sports Directorate for their support. The Vice-Chancellor also rewarded the Director of Sports and his Deputies with a second tenure of two years.
The Chairman Sports Committee, Professor Muhammad Abdulkadir Dambazau, lauded the Vice-Chancellor's efforts in making the university a sports hub, citing the upgrading and building of new sports facilities. The Director of Sports, Abubakar Abdussalam Garba, thanked the athletes for their discipline and dedication, vowing to do more.
The ceremony was a testament to the university's commitment to sports excellence, and the athletes' hard work and dedication have paid off. As the university looks to the future, it is clear that its sports program is on the rise.
