In a significant boost to grassroots football in Delta State, Paul Ojo Omamomo, the newly appointed Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Sports to the Delta State Governor, has fully sponsored three dedicated coaches to attend the CAF License D Coaching Course. This initiative underscores Omamomo's strong commitment to developing football at the grassroots level in his home state.
The three beneficiaries of this sponsorship are:
- Jonah Famutua of Successful Pillars Academy
- Onokpevwe Otega Kennedy, popularly known as Big Daddy
- Efe Yarhere, player-coach of Warri Wolves FC
These coaches were selected for their dedication to training young footballers in Delta State. Omamomo's sponsorship covers registration, learning materials, and transportation for the course.
Speaking on the program, Omamomo emphasized the importance of world-class coaching for producing top-tier players. "You cannot produce world-class players without world-class coaches," he stated. His vision extends beyond discovering talent; he aims to build a sustainable football system in Delta State by ensuring local coaches are certified and skilled.
This initiative is not new for Omamomo. Previously, he funded ten grassroots coaches to obtain the same CAF certification. His continued support reflects his commitment to football development in Delta State and his promise to lead sports development with honesty and impact.
By investing in coaching education, Omamomo is laying a solid foundation for the future of football in Delta State. This move is expected to enhance the quality of coaching and, ultimately, the performance of Deltan footballers on the national and international stages.
Omamomo's sponsorship of these coaches is a testament to his dedication to grassroots football and his vision for a thriving football system in Delta State. As SSA on Sports, he is poised to make a lasting impact on sports development in the state, and this initiative is just one of the many steps he is taking to achieve his goals.
