Northwest Veterans All Stars Qualifier Kicks Off in Kano

The Northwest Veterans All Stars qualifier tournament is set to commence in Kano, with Zamfara Veterans All Stars football team gearing up to face Jigawa in the opening match. The highly anticipated fixture will take place at the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kofar Mata, tomorrow morning, Thursday, at 7 am.

The Zonal Coordinator of the zone, Alhaji Danburan Abubakar Nuhu, a former Kano State Commissioner of Information, Youth, and Sports, expressed delight at the impressive turnout of participant teams. He urged the teams to maintain a spirit of sportsmanship, emphasizing that the competition is not a do-or-die affair.

Alhaji Danburan Abubakar Nuhu commended the players and officials for their cooperation and support, assuring that the local organizing committee will work tirelessly to ensure the championship's success. He noted that the zone has produced exceptional sports administrators, including the National Sports Commission's Malam Shehu Dikko, the President of the Nigerian Football Federation, Malam Ibrahim Musa Gusau, and the Minister of State for Housing Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Ata, among others.

The coordinator called on sports stakeholders to work collectively to improve various sporting activities in the zone and the country at large. In his remarks, the President of Kano All Stars football team, Alhaji Muhammad Abba Galadima, welcomed all participant teams, urging them to avoid any actions that could tarnish the championship's image. He thanked the state government for providing facilities at the stadium to ensure the competition's smooth execution.

The draws for the tournament have yielded exciting matchups, with Kebbi set to face Sokoto, and Kaduna taking on Zamfara in their second matches. Tomorrow's fixtures include Kano versus Kebbi at 7 am, followed by Jigawa versus Kaduna. A walkover football match has also been organized for the participants.

With the tournament underway, the stage is set for thrilling matches, sportsmanship, and camaraderie among the participant teams.
