Deputy Senate President Visits Barau FC Training Ground, Donates N2M

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Barau I. Jibrin, paid a visit to the training ground of Barau Football Club on Monday, ahead of the 2025 Nigerian National League NNL Super Eight Play-Off.

Senator Barau was accompanied by the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, Hon. Yusuf Abdullahi Atta, his Chief of Staff, Professor Muhammad Ibn Abdullah, Special Adviser on Youth and Sports, Kabiru Ado Lakwaya,and others.

In a statement issued by the club's Media Officer, Ahmad Hamisu Gwale, Senator Barau commended Barau FC for qualifying for the NNL Super Eight Playoffs and announced a donation of N2 million to the club as a Sallah gift. 

Senator Barau assured continued support for Barau FC until the club secures promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) next season.

"We are here to visit and motivate you, the young players of Barau FC. My vision is to see this club among the top teams in Nigeria and eventually in the world. By the grace of God, I will support you in every possible way to gain promotion to the NPFL," he said.

The management of Barau FC warmly received the Deputy Senate President, led by the Club Chairman, Ambassador Ibrahim Shitu Chanji, Board Member, Alhaji Abdul AP, Sporting Director, Yahya Muhammad, Club Secretary, Umar Lawan, and Curator, Aliyu Lawan.

Also present during the visit were Technical Adviser, Rabi’u Tata; Chief Coach, Madu Muhammad, Assistant Coach, Surajo Mukhtar, Goalkeeper Trainer, Babangida Muhammad.

Speaking on behalf of the players, Usman Maidubji expressed heartfelt appreciation to Senator Barau Jibrin for his unwavering support, describing it as a crucial factor in the club's progress and success.

Barau FC continues preparations for the upcoming NNL Super Eight Playoffs, competing with seven other clubs for promotion to the Nigerian Premier Football League (NPFL) in the coming season.

Gusau/Ahalan 2024 Preseason Cup Kick-Off Date Rescheduled

By Muzammil Dalha Yola  The kick off date of the Nigeria Football Federation President, Alhaji Ibrahim Musa Gusau MON tournament tagged Gusau/Ahalan 2024 pre-season, has been shifted by oneweek. The new kick-off date is now set for August 20th, instead of the initially announced August 13th. According to the tournament coordinator, Alhaji Abahurarai Dahiru, the decision to reschedule was made after consultations with stakeholders, who agreed that the recent "End of Bad Government" protests in some parts of the country warranted a postponement. The venue for the tournament remains the New Stadium, Zaria Road, Jos, in Plateau State. Sixteen football teams from the NPFL and NNL have confirmed their participation, and are expected to arrive in Jos on August 19th.
