In a significant transfer move, Nigerian central midfielder Alhassan Yusuf has joined Major League Soccer (MLS) side New England Revolution from Belgian top-flight club Royal Antwerp FC.
The 24-year-old Kano-born box-to-box midfielder brings a wealth of experience to the Revolution, having spent three years with Royal Antwerp, where he won three trophies, including the 2022-23 Belgian Pro League championship and 2022-23 Belgian Cup. Yusuf's impressive performances earned him the club's Player of the Month award in August 2022.
Yusuf's European adventure saw him feature in all six group stage matches of the 2023-24 UEFA Champions League, scoring a goal in his first start against FC Porto and providing an assist against FC Barcelona. He also made seven appearances in UEFA Europa League qualifying and tournament action.
With 90 league appearances in the Jupiler Pro League and Jupiler Pro League Champions' Playoffs under his belt, Yusuf joins the Revolution as a seasoned campaigner. The New England Revolution, based in Foxborough, Massachusetts, competes in the Eastern Conference of MLS and shares the Gillette Stadium with NFL team New England Patriots, both owned by Robert Kraft.
Yusuf's move to the MLS marks an exciting new chapter in his career, and he is expected to bring his skill, work rate, and winning mentality to the Revolution's midfield.
