The management of Matasa Football Club recently celebrated the team's remarkable achievements in the 2025 Nationwide League Two divisions season. The club's President, Alhaji Abdulwahab Dayyabu, led the occasion, which aimed to recognize and reward the players, coaches, and officials for their dedication and hard work.
Matasa FC made an impressive debut in the 2025 Nationwide League One Division Two, finishing in second position with 20 points, narrowly missing the top spot due to goal difference to Dawaki Warriors I Dawakin Tofa centre. The team's outstanding performance was a testament to the players' skills and the coaches' expertise.
Alhaji Abdulwahab Dayyabu, the club's President, commended the players and officials for their dedication and reaffirmed his commitment to supporting football development in the state. He urged the players to double their efforts ahead of the upcoming season, emphasizing his ambition to elevate the club to a higher and more competitive level.
Acting Chairman of the Kano State Sports Commission, Ibrahim Umar Fagge, called on businessmen to invest in football clubs across the country. He noted that the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) currently has four privately owned clubs, highlighting the need for more investment in the sport.
Bashir Bala emerged as Matasa FC's highest goal scorer, while Jawwal Abdullahi was named the club's Best Player of the Year. Speaking on behalf of the players, Nura Muhammad expressed gratitude to the club president, coaches, teammates, and other dignitaries who attended the event.
The event was attended by several notable figures, including former Kano Pillars Chairman Surajo Yahya Jambul, Chairman of the Nigeria Coaches Association (Kano branch) Barrister Ibrahim Gwadabe, Junior Pillars technical adviser, Ibrahim A. Musa, and Chairman of the Kano State Sports Writers Association, Zahraddeen Sale, among others.
